Kendall Coffey; My parents are Carole and Craig Coffey.
I originally started swimming when I was 13 years old. I did private swim lessons just to learn how to swim at a non-competitive level, but then I joined NTN shortly after and grew to like the sport.
Swimming has taught me to work as a part of a team, but it has also taught me to work through a tough challenge with a smile on my face and to never quit when it gets hard. I have made a ton of friends over the past four years and I don’t think I could have done so without swimming. As a result of swimming, I am in the best shape ever. I also learned I can wake up at 5:00 am and still survive.
The best swimming memories I have are from all of the travel trips that we have taken together. The quality time spent with the team.
My favorite story Coach Murphy tells is the Cliffy Webb story that he tells every year to kick off the new season. It’s fun to watch the faces of the freshmen who have never heard the story before. It’s hilarious because Coach tells it the same way every year.
My plans after graduation are to go off to college to study psychology or marketing. I have not really decided yet if I am swimming or not.
