SENIOR BIO SHEET
Kyle Spencer
Your name and names of your parent(s)
Kyle Spencer – my parents are Ron and Kathy Spencer. I was born in Dallas Texas and have lived in Texas all my life. My parents and I first lived in Carrollton, Texas but moved to Southlake when I started the fourth grade.
Why, where and when did you start swimming:
My swimming career started in Carrollton Texas at age 6. One day I was swimming at the local swimming pool and the coach for a Carrollton Aqua Racers swim team spotted me swimming breaststroke and asked me to join the swim team. I joined the next week and have been swimming ever since.
How has swimming helped you or what has it taught you:
The things swimming taught me have include setting goals, working hard, time management, dealing with disappointment and the satisfaction of doing the best I can.
Best or funniest swimming memory:
Best memories – My best memories have been making regional and sectional swim teams. I also really enjoyed playing “jump or dive” after practice. “Jump or dive is a game where Coach Murphy yells “jump or dive” when you are in the middle of the air while going off the diving board.
Worst memories – My worst memory is being embarrassed for forgetting my swimming suit for practice.
Funniest memory – My funniest memories will be Coach Murphy’s always enjoyable morning personality.
Your favorite Coach Murphy quote or story:
My favorite Coach Murphy story is about Cliffy Webb. Cliffy Webb was a swimmer with Coach Murphy when Coach Murphy swam. Cliffy always used to swim behind Coach Murphy and “touch” Coach Murphy’s feet. I still laugh every time Coach Murphy tells the story about what he did to Cliffy.
What are your plans after graduation? College? Swimming?
I plan on studying Civil Engineering. At this time I am undecided on which school to attend. Depending on the school I choose, I plan on continuing swimming at the collegiate level or at club swimming. I also plan on playing Water Polo in college.
