The Southlake Journal
Despite a sloppy first half, the Carroll football kicked things into high gear in the final two quarters to rout last-place Lewisville 52-0 on Nov. 6.
The win gave the Dragons (9-1 overall, 5-0 in District 6-5A) the outright district crown and pits them against District 5-5A foe Colleyville Heritage in the playoff opener at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at Cowboys Stadium.

Carroll held a 17-0 lead at halftime thanks to two first-quarter touchdown passes from quarterback David Piland to receivers Ryan Gentry and Sean Landers, as well as a 24-yard field goal by Cade Foster in the second quarter.
Piland finished the game with 170 yards and three touchdowns on 11-of-16 passing. Carroll running back Tommy Avers, who scored on a 40-yard touchdown run on the second play of the third quarter to give the Dragons a 24-0 lead, racked up 152 yards on the night.
Landers had two touchdowns and five catches for 48 yards, while receiver Cameron Stone led all receivers with 67 yards. As a team, Carroll rolled up 473 yards of total offense, with backup quarterback Kyle Williamson coming in to pass a 44-yard scoring strike to Peyton Williams in the fourth. Backup runners Paul Stevenson and Randy Williams added runs for scores in the fourth.
The Carroll defense stifled the Farmers (2-8, 0-5) for a meager 104 yards to pitch the shutout.
Now, the Dragons head for a playoff rematch with Colleyville Heritage (7-3), the team Carroll defeated in bi-district last year.
