The Carroll football program was once again well-represented on this year’s all-district team, as numerous players earned honors among athletes in District 6-5A.
Senior running back Tommy Avers was given top honors, chosen as the district’s MVP with his 1,742-yards rushing season (fifth most in the Dallas-Fort Worth area), 25 touchdowns (tied for third most in the area), and 8.5 yards-per-carry average.
Senior place-kicker Cade Foster (10 field goals, 59 PATs for 89 points), who set a state record for career extra points kicked, was chosen for the Special Teams MVP. Hal Wasson was selected 6-5A Coach of the Year.
Quarterback David Piland, receivers Ryan Gentry and Sean Landers, and offensive linemen Kody Weaver and Mason Hathaway were all named to the first-team offense for Carroll.
On the defense, linemen Jackson Richards and Michael Simoson, linebackers Lincoln Schick, Cade Foster and Mitchell Osborne, safeties Justin Agnew and Clay McMillan, and cornerbacks Shaun Hoagland and Mason Williams, all made the first-team defense for 6-5A.
Carroll backup Kyle Williamson (quarterback), Paul Stevenson (running back), receivers Brett Renger and Cameron Stone, and offensive linemen Tony Barone, Drew Carnahan and Nathan Butler were all named to the district’s second-team offense.
On defense, Ben Perry, Robby Halliman and Ryan Dufour all earned second-team honors on the defensive line.
